Introduction

What are your goals? What things would you like to achieve in your life? Do you have any big dreams that seem like they are nothing more than just that … dreams? There are probably things in your life you’d like to change. Instead of taking a haphazard attempt at them, the most important changes you would like to make need you to take directed, focused action.

You understand this. So you create goals and set about attaining them. You’re very driven. No one wants to achieve this goal more than you. You do everything you’re told, you are persistent, you know you’re going to succeed and then…

… nothing changes.

What happened? You desperately wanted with every fiber of your being to create this change you had in your mind. It wasn’t that you didn’t try hard enough. On the contrary, you worked hard to reach the goal you were chasing.

Nonetheless, you failed to create the reality you were looking for.

To some people this happens over and over. Then there are those, (you may know a few of them) who seem to be able to do anything. You have worked so very hard to achieve your goals and often you’ve failed. This is the exact opposite of what happens for those people you see achieving everything in their lives.

Whatever they desire, that’s pretty much what they get. Even when they’re trying to achieve something if they fall short, their new reality is so much better than what they were experiencing when they started.

Email #1 – Welcome

Hello and welcome to the series on why you are not manifesting the life you want. For those of you not familiar with what manifesting is, here is a definition: As an adjective or verb, it means “something that is clearly revealed to the mind of the senses or judgment.” The word manifest comes from the Latin word manifestus which means “caught in the act”.

Over the course of these lessons, we will cover:

  • Not being clear about your goals
  • Not getting into the right feelings
  • Not knowing what you want
  • Wrapping things up

Not manifesting comes down to eight basic reasons:

  1. You really don’t want it
  2. You haven’t explored your dark side
  3. Your self-sabotaging yourself
  4. You don’t feel worthy
  5. You’re not being clear
  6. You’re avoiding something
  7. You’re asking for the impossible
  8. The timing isn’t right

If each of these is not clear, don’t worry as we will discuss each one in detail in the coming lessons. One thing about manifesting that many people have false assumptions about is that it automatically just happens. And while the law of attraction is always at work to capitalize and maximize its effect on your life, you must work at manifestation. How? That information is also in the upcoming lessons.

The truth is that most of us have not and most likely will not reach our full potential. But some people seem to get anything they want, feel like they are masters of their destiny, have all the money they want, and if they do suffer a setback, bounce back with no residual effects. Why is that?

With that question still hanging in your mind, that wraps it up for this first lesson. In the next lesson, we will continue our discussion on manifesting and talk about how not being clear about your goals can prevent you from reaching your full potential. Be sure to read that one.

How Can You Get Clear on What You Really Want to Manifest?

Gaining clarity on what you want to manifest can really help you to make good progress towards your goals. One of the basics of manifestation is that you need to really understand what it is that you want to achieve. Here are some of the ways you can get real clarity and give yourself the best chance of achieving your dreams.

Be specific

When thinking about what you want, be as specific as you can. Goals such as ‘be happy’ might sound nice, but what does this mean in reality? What are the things that will make you happy? The things that make you happy are likely to be different from what would make someone else happy.

Define your goals and what you are trying to manifest. This will really help you to see things with more clarity and have a bright and clear vision for your future.

Be ready to change

You might start off with one goal in mind, but this could change over time. You may develop completely new goals, or you may have some extra goals you want to accomplish. Your original goal may change slightly, or it might change radically. Depending on the size of your goal and the time it takes to reach it, you may find that by the time you get to the end of your journey, a lot of things have changed. This isn’t a bad thing – it’s something you should be aware of and look out for. You should be ready and flexible enough to adapt your goals. For example, you might get a new job and decide your career path needs to change. Just because you’ve set one goal doesn’t mean you can’t alter it.

Write it down

The best way to keep track of your thoughts, feelings, ambitions and progress is to write it down. You might not realize how much progress you’re making on a day to day basis, but when you look back after a month, you could be quite surprised.

Get a notebook or an app which is dedicated to recorded things related to your goals and the manifestation of them. Write down what has worked for you and what hasn’t, and note any progress no matter how small or insignificant it may seem at the time. This will help you to think through what you’re manifesting, and will provide further clarity.

Subject: Life Goals in Your 20s

Dear [Name],

Becoming an adult can be quite stressful but also extremely rewarding and exciting. This is your best chance to set and accomplish your life goals with a fresh start. Setting goals, no matter your age, should be personal to you. However, some areas are essential not to overlook if you want to have a successful life in your 20s and the next.

College or Career

Your 20s are the start of a brand-new world, and you need a way to continue it financially. Set goals that will help you accomplish this. Maybe that means you’ll finish college or attend a vocational school. Whatever it is, now is the time to figure it out and create a plan of action to get it done. Keep in mind that it’s natural for college and career goals to change as you get older and as you learn more about yourself.

Retirement and Emergency Savings

The idea of saving for retirement in your 20s may sound crazy, but it is the best thing you can do. Starting now will only allow you to have more because you are giving it more time to grow. Even if you can only save 100 dollars a month, this will really add up later in life due to compounding interest.

Your first goal needs to be three months of emergency expenses. After that, start donating that savings amount to a 401K through your bank.

Family/Relationship

Do you want kids in the future? A spouse? How about a home of your own? Saving now makes everything that much easier to accomplish. By the time you are in your 30s, you will be able to mark this off your bucket list easily and without stress. Not only that, but you will also get the house of your dreams more likely than not.

All you need to save is about 20 percent of your principal to get a good deal on a mortgage, which will always be less than if you paid rent for something similar in quality. Having children costs money, but if it’s something you need and want in order to be happy, start now setting up your life for your dreams to come true.

Health

Before you plan on having kids (or even if you decide not to have kids), it’s always helpful to set life goals related to health – including your mental health. Living a sedentary lifestyle can shorten your lifespan almost as much as smoking cigarettes can. Use your 20s to be the healthiest you can be to live the longest possible. The habits you form now will pay off in amazing ways later.

One tactic to ensure you are healthy is to make it simple. Move more than you sit and eat more plants than anything else. Also, stay hydrated and get check-ups and dental cleanings regularly even when you feel fine.

Personal Interests

It is never a good idea to avoid what you are passionate about. Maybe you are not one of the fortunate ones that get to work at a job you’re passionate about yet. It’s okay; dive into those passions when you can. Set a schedule so you fit it in.

Spending time with yourself is important, as is taking time to do what you like. For example, set a goal to read one book a month, or learn to paint, or take up a yoga practice. You can also work on that business plan you always thought was unrealistic. Passion projects always boost mental clarity and give everyone a sense of purpose.

Take advantage of the “extra” time you have in your 20s. Set life goals that will continue for decades and lead to a rewarding successful life. This saying may seem trite, but it’s so true: “If you don’t plan, you are just planning to fail.”

Next time, we’ll look at setting life goals when you’re in your 30s.

How to Create Empowering Goals PLR Report Sample Content:

Why Having Life Goals Is Important

Having life goals to some may sound like a waste of time, but overall, it is a critical practice to adopt. Any expert will suggest it to help you assure your success. Whether you like where you are now or you are having trouble in your life, set out some life goals that are important to you so that you can work toward them.

This method works because, beyond the goal itself, the experience of working toward the goal provides so much more joy and excitement and fabric to your life. Without goals, you essentially have nothing to look forward to and it’s easy to fall into despair. But when you know where you’re going and how you’ll get there, life becomes fun, exciting, and worth living. In a sense, setting life goals is setting your plan or road map to life and how you plan to ride it.

A Sense of Purpose

Goal setting provides a sense of purpose. It redirects your focus to completing something – whether it be daily, monthly, or yearly. It motivates you to continue your daily life. Each goal you set is another day to look forward to. For example, if you know that walking 30 minutes a day leads to better health, and you check off each day over a year, it helps you understand why you’re doing it.

Essential to True Happiness

When you set life goals, you are essentially making a life plan: a life plan to true happiness. For each goal you set, no matter what steps it has, the end goal is happiness because you know once you accomplish that goal, you will be happier in the end. Each goal you set allows you to get more of what you want out of life.

Focus and Motivation

Setting goals provides a sense of focus and motivation to an everyday life that generally may be convoluted. With each goal that is set, there is also a clear end in sight, which motivates you to continue and accomplish each goal.

The desire to achieve the goal and seeing the finish line provides the determination and drive to get it done. Without goals, your time could likely be wasted on pointless tasks that lead nowhere. You may be busy, but you won’t be productive without goal setting.

Sense of Pride

Nothing feels better than working hard and accomplishing a set of goals. Achieving your goals will fill you with a sense of pride in yourself and what you can do. Setting goals is also another way to track your accomplishments because they are all written down, and you can check off each milestone as they are completed. As these goals are accomplished and then visually represented by the marks on your calendar or the weight you’ve lost or the degree you’ve earned, your confidence will rise as well.

Common Goal Setting Obstacles and How to Maneuver around Them

Many people have issues with goal setting due to setting limiting obstacles in their own way. Some of the most common barriers to goals setting involve fear and lack of belief in yourself enough to even set a goal, much less follow steps toward achieving them. Perhaps if you know some of the most common goal setting obstacles you can work toward overcoming them.

You Don’t Want What You Think You Want

Some goals are set because other people want them for you. If you don’t really want what you say you want, it will be very difficult to set a goal for that thing. Be sure that you’ve set the goals for the right reasons and that it’s something you really want. Write down the pros and cons of any goal and know why you want to achieve that result before setting it in stone.

You Don’t Truly Understand the Importance of Goal Setting

Many people think goal setting is just hocus pocus and doesn’t really work. If you don’t really understand the power behind appropriate goal setting, it can be hard to take the time out of your day to truly set a goal. To understand the importance of goal setting, read several books about success and you’ll find that the most successful people set realistic goals, and then worked that goal into their schedule every single day. Even people who experience “overnight success” didn’t really achieve everything overnight. It was many nights of following a plan that brought results.

You’re Not Really Sure How to Set a Reasonable Goal

If you’ve actually tried to set a goal before but didn’t experience results, it’s probably because you just don’t know how to set a goal. It’s not as easy as just writing down a dream. Goals aren’t dreams. They are realistic, specific, achievable end results that you want to see. Take the time to learn the best goal setting techniques in order to experience goal setting success.

You’re Scared of Failure

Many people do not bother setting goals because they have a self-limiting belief that they’ll fail anyway. Therefore, if they do not set a goal, they won’t have to be a failure. But remember that the idea of planning to succeed over planning to fail is realistic. No goal setting is a recipe for failure; goal setting is a recipe for success. When you accept that you can only achieve real success through goal setting, you’ll overcome this obstacle.

You’re Afraid of Judgment

Sometimes people are scared to set a goal for something because they see it as outrageous. For instance, let’s say that you want to go back to college to get a Master’s degree, or you want to start your own business. You fear that if you set that goal, and other people know about the goal they’ll judge you harshly for wanting it or for some other imagined issue. If you are worried about what others think of you, it’s time to dig deep inside yourself and get over it. The truth is, what you think of yourself is more important than anything else. When you stop judging yourself, you’ll stop worrying about the judgment of others.

You’re Afraid of Success

Believe it or not, some people are literally afraid of success. They feel too much pressure surrounding success to actually make goals to be successful. They are more comfortable in their role as someone who is not successful or who is “normal” instead of as someone who sets a goal, works toward achieving it, and is seen as a success. The truth is, there will always be people who want to tear you down once you achieve some success, but the saddest thing in life is regretting not doing something. Most people regret the things they did not do, more than the things they did do – right or wrong.

You Secretly Don’t Think You’re Worth It

This is where the way you see yourself is important because if you see yourself as someone who doesn’t follow through, who doesn’t succeed and who can’t change their life, you’ll avoid goal setting like the plague. You’re the only person on Earth who can control your actions, so you’re the only one who can set the goals for you, and the only one who can make yourself feel worthwhile.

You Don’t Really Believe It’s Possible

People avoid goal setting because they simply do not see the vision of what can be. They don’t believe. They don’t picture themselves fully at the point of success, experiencing success. Since they think it can’t happen, they don’t try. But, the truth is, you can’t know for sure about anything unless you follow the steps necessary to reach a goal. You can dream big, and reach for the stars. Trying is more important in most circles than actually making it. And, chances are that if you really try, you will make it after all.

Goal setting is an imperative if you want to truly see all your dreams and visions come to fruition. It doesn’t matter if it’s business oriented or personal – setting a realistic and achievable goal, and then working toward realizing that goal on a daily basis does work. You just have to do the work.
