There are plenty of studies that show the most common fear is the fear of public speaking. In study after study, people say they are more fearful of speaking in public than they are of dying! Why is this fear so universally felt? Why are some people overjoyed at the excitement they get skydiving, when others would never think about jumping out of an airplane that is operating correctly? Why do you fear things that you know are irrational? What is fear anyway?

In this guide on how to conquer your fears by meeting them head on, we will start by defining fear, and revealing the process that explains exactly why you get scared of certain things. You will find out the origin of your personal fears, and what it is exactly that keeps your fearful emotions going. You will learn how to recognize but ignore your self-talk that is damaging, and the differences between fear, phobias and anxiety disorders.

Then we will arm you with specific and proven techniques to help you identify what is fueling your fears. You learn when to recognize them as real threats or inconsequential emotions, and how to move past those thoughts and things which cause you to be scared about a perceived outcome. Let’s get started helping you push past your fears by looking at some of the core reasons that cause you to be fearful.

Where Do Your Personal Fears Come from, and Why Do You Get Scared?

Do you remember being scared of the bogeyman when you were a child? Almost all children learn to be scared of witches and monsters at a very young age. This seems absolutely rational, and such creatures are just as real to a small child as is their own existence. As we grow we understand that the witches and goblins of our childhood fairy tales don’t exist.

What made us so scared of these legends as a child, and absolutely unconcerned about them now? Put as a very simple question, what is it that makes us scared or fearful? Where do our individual and personal fears come from? Why are some people scared of a particular thing, when others are not?

Science tells us that you get anxious, scared or fearful of an object, a person, an event or an outcome 1) partly because of instinct, 2) partly due to your own personal experiences, and 3) partly because somebody else has taught you to be scared of that thing.

Why we get scared

Greetings! This is the first email in this series on getting out of your comfort zone. In this series, we are going to look at some techniques people use to overcome, or at least reduce the effects of their fears, which many times hold them back from getting out of their comfort zone.

Have you ever wondered why you are scared of some things, but not of others? Even if those other things are actually more dangerous to you than the things you now fear? Sometimes the fear is based on an actual past event, while others are perceived and not even real!

Fear is an evolutionary response built into our DNA – it is a survival tactic inherited from our ancestors when they were hunters… or at times the ones being hunted. Being scared was a survival response that raised the awareness of the situation around them, keeping them on their toes, keeping them sharp so they could react quickly if an animal or enemy could seriously injure or even kill them.

It is still a useful survival tactic today in our daily lives … only we call it stress. However, our bodies today elicit the same “fight or flight” response to stress as it did in our ancestors.

What happens inside the body during this fight or flight response? All bodily resources are directed to the response; some bodily functions are halted or at least reduced. Maximum glucose is directed to the muscles so they have the energy they will need to “fight off the enemy”.

Also known as the Acute Stress Response, common reactions are due to a flood of hormones released that can include an increase in heart rate, sweating, pupil dilation, nerves on edge, just to name a few.

There are two types of fear: actual and perceived. For example, some people fear flying. For these people it can be a fear based on experience; they might have survived a plane crash before. But for most others having this fear, it is not based on experience, but due to something they may have heard from someone else, have read somewhere or even imagined in their sleep.

The only way to overcome a fear – real or perceived – is to do the very thing you are afraid of doing. While you might not eliminate the anxiety you feel in its entirety, it will certainly diminish your response to it, bringing it at least down to a manageable level.

Are You Suffering from a Fear of Success?

You’ve probably heard people talk about a fear of failure, and you might be worried about failing in certain areas of your life, but have you ever heard of a fear of success?

The idea that anybody could be scared of being successful might come as a shock to some people, but there are many different fears that are associated with becoming successful. Here are some of the most common worries that you might be able to relate to.

• Success involves change
In many scenarios, you need to change certain things in order to become successful. Therefore, the fear you feel when you think about the success you desire might be coming from other avenues. For example, relocating to a different area in order to get a better job might cause you worry and anxiety.

• Success is in the future
If you’re running a business, you’ve probably come up with a plan and a forecast for the future. Thinking about three, four, even five years down the line can fill people with dread and worry. Growing old and losing time are just two aspects which come along with thinking about the future.

• Successful people can create enemies
This doesn’t mean that you want to have enemies or that you’re purposely trying to create tension with other people, but less successful people generally resent those who are doing better than them. You might not like the idea of other people being envious of you to the point that they don’t want to be your friend.

• Success could change the way people view you
This is most common with successes such as losing a large amount of weight or inheriting a lot of money. If you have always been in working class circles and suddenly come into a lot of wealth, you might be worried about how people will view you. Likewise, if you lose a substantial amount of weight, you could be anxious about the person you love and what they might think of you.

How can you deal with a fear of success?

Remember that being successful is usually a very good thing, and you should be in control of your own situation and life all along. Try not to fall into the trap of worrying what other people might think about you, since this takes the power away from you and gives it to others. Be flexible and ready to change as the things around you change.

Fears vs. Phobias & Anxiety Disorders – What’s the Difference Sample:

Fears vs. Phobias & Anxiety Disorders – What’s the Difference?

Fear and anxiety are sometimes used interchangeably, but the two things are very different. Likewise, although fears and phobias may sound very similar on the surface, they are also a bit different. However, these differences are not well understood by those outside the psychology profession. So, here’s a simple explanation of the differences between the 3 concepts:

Fear

Let’s start with the simplest of the 3, fear. Fear is an emotion that every human experiences in stressful or dangerous situations. It is brought on when the human mind perceives a threat. The fear acts a sort of warning that something is coming and that you should prepare yourself. See, fear is a sort of primal emotion. It is one of the base emotions along with anger, horror, joy, and panic.

Fear is part of evolution, it is intended to help us survive through potentially dangerous situations by keeping us alert. Because of this, fear is associated with certain symptoms like tensed muscles (so as to make it easier to quickly react), sweaty palms, higher blood pressure, and a feeling of being on edge. All of these symptoms would presumably help you react faster in a fearful situation. For example, a soldier in the middle of battle would find the tensed muscles and feeling of being on edge helpful.

Fears are triggered by real, quantitative threats that you can see as opposed to abstract things. This will become clearer as you read more about anxiety below.

Anxiety

Anxiety may sound very similar to fear on the surface, but they are actually quite different. In the previous section, we described how fear is an emotional response to a threat that you can actually see. Anxiety differs in the fact that it is best described as having apprehension or feelings of unpleasantness over unrealistic fears. For example, seeing a deadly animal charge at you would trigger fear in most people. The reason being is that the animal is a real threat, our brains know that it is a threat and thus triggers the fear emotion to help you prepare to deal with the threat.

However, if someone makes an investment and is constantly worried over whether it will succeed or not, then we call that anxiety. The reason being that there is no physical thing to be scared of. The person has really no control over whether the investment fails or not. Anxiety often causes distinct symptoms, such as an inability to sleep, shortness of breath, chest pains, headaches, muscle pains, and shaking. As you can see from the symptoms, anxiety differs quite a bit from regular fear.

Phobias

Phobias are closely related to fear, but they differ in one key aspect. See, fear is rational, it is caused by an actual threat. When someone is afraid of something, usually there is a good reason why. Phobias, on the other hand, are irrational fears of objects, people, and things like that. It can be a bit difficult to distinguish between fear and a phobia, but it is possible.

For example, if someone knows has a venomous spider in their home, then they have a reasonable fear of that spider and will take care of it. But they do not spend every moment of their life worried over the presence of spiders. On the other hand, someone who has an actual phobia of spiders will constantly be worried about spiders and will actively seek to avoid them, even if it means significantly changing their lives around. For example, one doctor had a patient who had a phobia of spiders that was so intense that she refused to leave the house for fear that they might be out there!

How to overcome anxiety

Overcoming anxiety is not easy. Extreme cases of anxiety disorder may need medication and//or therapy to be truly corrected. Those who suffer from mild anxiety can get over it by practicing stress control techniques. Things like meditation or just sitting and breathing deeply for a few minutes can help people get through bouts of anxiety. It is also important to take your mind off whatever is causing anxiety.

Common Phobias and How to Deal with Them

A phobia is a fear-based reaction to something irrational in nature. There is no scientific reason to feel as fearful as you do over the thing that causes the phobia. Now, this isn’t to say that some phobias aren’t based on the potential for real harm, but most of the time, no harm will really come to you. Let’s look at some of the most common phobias and how to deal with them.

Common Phobias

* Social Phobia – Also known as social anxiety disorder, this is a phobia that can affect everyone differently. One person might only be afraid of speaking in front of people, while another fears just chatting at the dinner table. The main thing that really affects someone with a social anxiety disorder is the fear of panic attacks. It literally causes someone to feel as if they are dying when going out, being around others, and interacting with them.

* Agoraphobia – This is the fear of being alone in spaces that you’re afraid you cannot get out of. Sometimes this is wide open spaces, but sometimes it’s specific spaces like malls or large outdoor arenas. This fear is often characterized by panic attacks when trying to leave the comfort zone. This can affect people severely, including keeping someone from ever leaving their home or a room in their home.

* Aerophobia – The fear of flying is a common phobia. Some people can fly through their fears, but others cannot and need to find alternative transportation. This fear can be very limiting if someone wants to experience a new type of life or career that requires traveling.

* Mysophobia – This very common phobia is the fear of germs. Due to this fear, it may be hard for the person to go out around people. They may be afraid to touch others or touch surfaces, and it might manifest as keeping a home spotlessly clean and overly washing the hands, which (ironically) can end up causing skin infections.

* Glossophobia – This is also a very common fear. People are so fearful of public speaking that they often describe it as scarier than death. While some people simply suffer from some stage fright and can get through it, a person with this phobia will avoid public speaking at all costs. This can damage their grades in school and career later.

* Anthropophobia – This is different from social anxiety because the fear of people manifests as fear of even people you know. People who have this fear are terrified of everyone, not just people they do not know.

How to Deal with Phobias

To overcome your phobias, the first thing you need to do is identify them and judge what level they’re approaching.

If you need to get professional help to overcome the phobia, this is often the best course of action. The other way to deal with it is to acknowledge it and work through the fear a little each day. Keep a journal and develop plans to push through this phobia one step at a time.

You can also try hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and even a life coach who specializes in your particular phobia. However you choose to deal with it, know that it’s not impossible to overcome a phobia if you want to and are willing to try what the professionals ask you – such as desensitization, neuro-linguistic programming and/or medications that can help.

Subject line: Your First Issue of Conquering Fear

Hello “autoresponder code here”,

Welcome to your first of issue of Conquering Fear. In each issue of this newsletter, you will have access to valuable information that will help you learn how to manage your fears and help get you on the path to overcoming of them for good.

In this issue, we are going to discuss some of the different types of fears and some effective ways to cope with them.

Some say that fear is a great motivator and for some people it is. The fear of failing, loss or facing consequences can give us the will to thrive under pressure and help us complete tasks that would otherwise go unfinished.

For others it can literally cause life to come to a screeching halt. It’s like being held hostage, unable to move forward or make a decision without being afraid of the consequences.

Being held captive by your fear, (even a small fear) is one of the worst feelings in the world. It can immobilize you, rob you of your freedom and keep you from living the life you deserve.

Understanding your fear is one of the first steps to managing it and eventually conquering it. Most forms of fear can be broken down into three basic categories external, internal, or subconscious.

Among the three, subconscious and internal fears are most difficult to live with and find treatment for because the person suffering from this the debilitating condition must first realize they have a problem and need help. They must also recognize source of their fear so that they can take necessary steps to overcome it. By identifying the type of fear that is holding you back, you will be able to learn effective methods of controlling it.

– First let’s discuss external fears.

An external fear is one is the easiest to diagnose and manage. It is similar to phobias where an outside source causes stress or anxiety that automatically triggers your brain to react.

For example, fear of, spiders, heights and flying are among the most common phobias that millions of people suffer with every day. They experience (sometimes-severe) anxiety or discomfort whenever they are in a situation where they’re confronted with particular triggers.

Sometimes even the thought of a spider will send someone with arachnophobia screaming out of the room. Since the source of this type of fear is easier to identify, the person suffering can seek help finding alternative ways to manage, confront and even overcome the fear.

Most external fears are related to negative life experiences. For instance, someone who fell from a tree as a child may be afraid of heights as an adult. Since they know the root cause of their fear, they will have better understanding of the problem and be able to seek out specific treatments and techniques to help manage their anxiety in stressful situations.

Often time’s hypnosis is a viable option for people with external fears. A hypnotherapist can employ psychological methods in order to erase any previous negative associations you have with the root cause of your fear.

– Internal Fears

This type of fear is closely associated with low levels of confidence or lack of self-esteem. Yet, just like external fear, the triggers come from an outside source, which produces negative feelings and emotions.

This trigger then produces internal reactions such as self-doubt, questioning capabilities and in severe cases, causes self-loathing. Most often, when people begin to question their own abilities, failure is unavoidable. This type of fear often affects a person’s ability to interact in social situations as well.

To learn how to effectively manage and eventually conquer internal types of fear, you often have to go back at your childhood years during the time when character development was at its peak, because this is when most internal fears develop. Dealing with this type of fear often requires the help of a healthcare professional who can show you how to gain a new perspective in life and modify certain behaviors that trigger your insecurities and fears.

– Subconscious Fears

This type of fear is produced when your mind accepts certain beliefs as reality, even if they are untrue or unfounded. This severe form of fear limits your potential, prevents you from doing things and often leads to self-sabotage. It is often associated with extreme cases of internal fear and causes the sufferer to question their abilities. Which reinforces their feelings of self-doubt and negative self-talk.

Learning to live with this type of fear often requires the help of a healthcare professional who can show you how to take active steps towards reversing negative beliefs and replacing them with positive reinforcements, so that you can regain control of your life.

– Overcoming Fears

When it comes to coping with and overcoming fears most people are reluctant to address the problem. Sometimes it’s because they lack the proper motivation, but often it’s because they are unable or simply afraid to face their fear head on, which is ultimately the only way you can gain control of it.

Identifying the type of fear you’re suffering from is the first step towards abolishing it from your life. It will also help you decide whether or not you need to seek the help of a healthcare professional. After you have identified the source of your problem, you can develop a plan to conquer it.

Make sure you look for your next issue soon. We will be talking about more about fears and phobias, so that you can gain a better understanding of them.

Natural Treatments For Anxiety Stress PLR Report

Natural Treatments For Anxiety Stress PLR Report Sample:

Stress, anxiety and panic can be an occasional aspect of normal life. Stress in particular is something that most everyone deals with from time to time. Stress can in fact be good for you in small amounts. And there are different types of stress, some easier to manage than others.

Anxiety is a whole different emotion. Like stress, there is a physical response, however, anxiety relates directly to fear. In fact, anxiety is defined as, “A state of uneasiness and apprehension about future uncertainties.”

Anxiety can take control of your life. One worry can snowball into constant worries about everything in your life. You can feel anxiety about:

  • Relationships
  • Money
  • Your Job
  • Family Members
  • Parenting
  • Pets
  • Your future
  • School/Education
  • Performance

And chronic anxiety can turn into or be part of what’s called an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders include conditions like PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. However, they can also include Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which means you’re fearful of everyday situations. Social Anxiety Disorder is also common. That’s when someone is fearful of social situations. They worry they’re going to be laughed at, judged or they’re going to embarrass themselves.

If you’re anxiety builds to the point where it’s controlling your life, it’s time to take action to get your life back. If you have changed your habits or lifestyle to lessen your anxiety, it’s time to get your life back. If you’ve turned to drugs or alcohol to reduce your anxiety, it’s time to get your life back.

This report is designed to help you break free from anxiety – to help you stop being a prisoner to your own fearful thoughts. Over the next 20 or so pages we’ll discuss:

  1. Health Issues Caused by Anxiety and Panic Attacks
  2. Common Causes of Anxiety
  3. Herbal Treatments & Anxiety Remedies
  4. Hands on Treatments for Anxiety
  5. Habits You Can Adopt to Reduce or Eliminate Anxiety

This report is an overview of anxiety related conditions and natural treatments. If you suffer from an anxiety disorder or believe you might suffer from an anxiety disorder, it’s important to see your doctor.

Once diagnosed properly, your physician will refer you to a behavior therapist or psychotherapist who can help you learn to manage stress and anxiety. Depending on your diagnosed condition, and there are five main categories of anxiety disorders, you may also be prescribed medication.

Medication isn’t a long term solution in most cases and instead treats the symptoms until therapy can help you turn things around. Medications for anxiety disorders come with a number of side effects and risk of addiction. They’re not a cure.

However, if you have mild anxiety or are already under the care of a physician and would like to speed up your progress, natural anxiety treatments may be exactly what you’re looking for. This report is for you!

If you are under the care of a physician and/or therapist for your anxiety, check with your doctor before beginning any new program. It is particularly important if you try any herbs or supplements to treat anxiety naturally because they may interfere with medications you’re already on.

Okay, now that we have a basic understanding about what this report covers and who it is designed to help, let’s get started!
