Have you ever walked to your car and couldn’t recall locking the door on your way out? How about taking your morning route to work and arriving only to realize that a big block of your trip is gone from your memory? It’s actually quite scary if you think about it, but it’s a phenomenon that effects everyone. With today’s world being so fast-paced yet often so monotonous, it’s becoming easier and easier for us to live outside of the moment and for our minds to wander inward, especially as we go about routine tasks.
Unfortunately, this has many problems. While daydreaming about your upcoming vacation or some happy time while you do dishes may not necessarily be a bad thing, repeatedly allowing your mind to wander off or even blank out completely is no way to live life. Living in the moment is something we’re always told to do, so why aren’t more of us doing it?
The fact is, when we allow our minds to wander off and we fail to live in the present moment, we often end up going to bed feeling as though the day has just slipped away from us. Over time, it minimizes our productivity and it even kills our creative processes because we’re no longer paying attention to what we are doing in the here and now. Our minds are somewhere else whilst our bodies work almost on auto-pilot, driving you to work or doing your daily chores as you think about some other time.
The trouble with this is not just feelings of lost time, but the fact that, in a sense, you are actually losing time in your life. Surely, doing the dishes won’t be the highlight of your life, but by being present in every moment, you will end up getting more out of your life because you’ll begin to experience the joy that comes with appreciate the little things.
When you take your dog out, for instance, you can quite literally “stop and smell the roses” if you are in the present moment. You can greet the neighbor who is passing by and, in general, you can learn to see and love the small things that will ultimately help you see the beauty all around you if you just pay more attention.
If you make an effort today to start living in the moment, you will quickly begin to feel the results of such–and it will certainly lead to a happier you!

We all experience it at one time or another; this trespasser called stress. It is perhaps the number one cause of most health problems today. Let’s explore 6 ways to deal with the stress in your life in a healthy and effective manner.
* Talk about the problems you are experiencing with friends, loved ones or a professional. Keeping everything bottled up will only create more problems later on. Join a support group with people experiencing similar problems.
* Exercise often. Go to the park and walk for 20-30 minutes either every day or every other day. Exercise relieves tension and produces a calming effect. Perhaps joining a gym with a friend would be more to your liking.
* Yoga exercises. Sit in a quiet room alone and begin breathing exercises. Choose a mantra which will help you to stay focused.
* Music does calm the savage beast. Listen to some classical or instrumental music. Ocean or nature sounds are a perfect way to release stress.
* Healthy meals can become an important factor in limiting your stress. Ensure you eat three meals a day, and make an effort to avoid too much caffeine and sugar.
* Sleep deprivation can cause stress. Go to bed early. Seven to eight hours sleep can make all the difference.
Coping with stress can be challenging. Every day you seem to be pulled in every direction, trying to accommodate others. The first priority is to take care of you. You are the thread which holds your family together. If you are stressed, you won’t be much good to anyone.
Give yourself a break every now and then. Buy a new outfit; go to a movie; do something you’ve always wanted to do. Your family can take care of themselves for one day. Alone time is just as important to you as it is for everyone else. Think of yourself as a gas tank; eventually you will run out of fuel.
Laughter is a wonderful release. You’ve probably noticed those times when you’ve laughed so hard, you cried. This is probably due to the fact you haven’t laughed in a while, and the tension released through laughter is the best cure-all method for dealing with stress-related issues.
Avoid stressful situations whenever possible. If you are a working mom, it’s probably not the job but the people who are causing you the most stress. Take everything in stride.
If you can’t finish a task, don’t worry about it. If dinner doesn’t turn out as you expected, improvise or order out.
Life is too short; and stress can reduce it further. Nothing is more important than your health or state of mind. Eleanor Roosevelt wisely said, “No one can make you a victim without your consent.” She was right; it is, after all, up to you.

How to Fine Tune Your Vibration
Once you understand that you and only you are responsible for your level of energy, that’s where the magic comes in. Level of energy does not mean how much you get done in the course of a day or a week.

All these thoughts are on a lower vibrational level. If you choose to stay there, you will reap the results of those thoughts and they will show up in your life.
Choose Your Thoughts Wisely
It’s up to you, once you take on the practice of becoming aware of your thoughts and taking responsibility for them, to choose them wisely next. Choose to have a different point of view even if its empathy.
You can feel empathy for someone who behaves so badly because they have low self-esteem or you can choose to think angry and hateful thoughts toward them. At the end and the beginning of each day, you get to pick and choose your thoughts. It’s important to choose them wisely.
