5 Tips When Planning a Summer Body Training Regimen

Getting a summer body that looks fit and toned doesn’t need to be a stressful and tiring process. In fact, just by following a few tried and tested methods, you’ll be able to shed the excess pounds and tone your body without spending hours at the gym and not seeing results.

1. Start early

This is the most important tip of the lot. In order to be lean and fit by summer, it’s best to start in February. This will give you about 4 to 5 months to lose your excess weight and gain some lean muscle.
It will also be less stressful because your body has more time to adapt and improve.

2. Focus on full-body workouts

Instead of just doing cardio and resistance training on separate days, it’s ideal to do both at the same time. Forget the conventional methods of training where cardio activities are running on the treadmill or spinning on the exercise bike.

Create a training routine where you have burpees, push-ups, tuck jumps, pull ups, etc. These compound movements will work several muscle groups at the same time.

Do as many reps as you can in 45 seconds, then rest for 15 seconds before moving on to the next exercise and doing the same. 5 or 6 different exercises in a sequence with 3 or 4 sets. That should be a 20 to 24-minute workout.

3. High intensity interval training (HIIT)

HIIT, which is the protocol mentioned above is highly effective for weight loss. If you’re using dumbbells and/or barbells for exercises like deadlifts, squats, etc. it’s best to use a weight where you can do 10 to 15 reps without straining excessively.

The goal is to do as many reps as possible. This will translate into the most work done. If the weights are too heavy, you’ll not be able to go as fast or do as many reps.
Training for a summer body is about getting lean and toned. It’s not bodybuilding where you’re aiming for hypertrophy and use heavy weights and low reps.

4. Stay hydrated

Drink water throughout the day. It has been shown to boost your metabolism and aid in fat loss. Drink a glass of water 30 minutes before your workouts and hydrate sufficiently after a workout.

5. Extra cardio

Walking is a fantastic way to burn some extra calories without overly taxing your body. If you have time, you can go for a 20 or 30-minute walk daily in the morning while you’re in a fasted state. This will help your body to directly access and burn your fat stores since your blood glucose levels are low.
